Health is prerequisite for human development and is an essential component for the wellbeing of the mankind. Health can be regarded as a state of mental, social and economic wellbeing and not mere the absence of dis-ease. Health is a function, not only of medical care, but also of the overall integrated development of society – cultural, economic, educational, social and political.
Although India has made rapid strides in the health sector since independence yet various data from NFHS clearly indicate that access to healthcare still remains a challenge and the main reason is poverty. Beginning before birth and continuing throughout an individual’s life, poverty can significantly impact health and health outcome.
Social Fighters Foundation urges its members to become informed about impact of poverty on health. Achieving the vision of optimal health for everyone requires a culturally proficient care and well-resourced medical team that supplies readily accessible solution. Social Fighters Foundation is also focus on promote alignment with other private and public community resources to help advance the integration of primary care and public health.
While the health statistics of rural India continue to be poor, the health status and access to health for the poor in urban slum dwellers has not satisfactory. Urban slum dwellers suffer from adverse health conditions owing to mainly two reasons –first the lack of education and thus lack of awareness; and second the unwillingness to lose a day’s wage in order to reach the nearest medical facility. Healthcare for underprivileged, which is a desperate need, thus remains unaddressed. Thus the vision of SFF is to transform health care to achieve optimal health for everyone.
